Date

My date with Date happened over lunch on Saturday afternoon. There were around 7 of us, and because I had seen the place trending much, I zeroed in on this (I am the designated "venue-decider").

The place is located amidst the second-hand car sellers' lots, on the 100ft road, few minutes away from Naturals. Just look out for the circular board with the logo, and you would be able to spot it. There is no space ear-marked for parking, but the empty area around serves the purpose. Reaching at around 1.30 p.m., we were the first ones, and found the place to be deserted (pun intended).

Owing to the heat, we chose to sit inside. The outside seating option is a covered area with settees/sofas, and probably is a good place to dine in the evening. The place has some vibrant colors, that cut across the pallor of the desert look. A caricature of a camel stands as the center-piece, right next to a palm tree.

To start off, the servers got us some dates in a bowl. 5 out of 7 of us were vegetarian, so, had the chance of trying out a larger array of dishes.

1. Cottage Shish Kebab: The Paneer pieces were succulent, and with the mint dip, the dish tasted quite good.
2. Falafel and Hummus with Pita: If you are not a Lebanese lover, you may find this one bland, But to me, it taste exactly it should, with the Hummus being spot on.
3. Charmula Basted Cottage Cheese: We ordered the non-veg version of this as well. Both tasted extremely good! They were served with a side of well-done potato wedges.
4. Veg Koobideh Wrap: Nothing extraordinary, but nothing bad either.
5. Arabic Chicken Biryani: Because the Mandi was not going to be spicy enough, the non vegetarians had opted for this. I have been told that both the chicken and rice were done nicely.
6. OTC Pizza: Basically, Onion Tomato Capsicum pizza. It was of the thin crust variety, but the cheese that they had laden it with was another level. And it wasn't bland at all! Recommended!
7. Grilled Cottage Cheese: Must try when it is hot! The Cottage cheese was tender, and marinated so well, that each bite was a burst of flavour. The rice, or the pilaf, complimented the cottage cheese. What bound the dish to be a hit was the tomato sauce smeared across the pieces. Sadly, as the dish got cold, it became a bit difficult to eat the paneer pieces.
8. Baklawa: Personally, I have had better. And this felt a bit costly, priced at 295++,for 2 pieces.
9. Paan Shot Phirni: Another must try dish, that combines the richness of phirni with the flavours of paan and gulkand.

Apart from these we had ordered Charmula Basted Cottage Cheese wrap as well, which was same as 3, but in wrap form. I preferred them as is, rather than having them rolled into a bread.  There was also Lamb Kibbeh, served with Pita bread, but I sadly do not remember the feedback.

The staff was attentive and helped us with ordering the preferred dishes. They are knowledgeable as well, and can give you a brief as to what a dish would be. This is a benefit for those getting exposed to this cuisine for the first time.

I am dead sure that the place looks lit, once their lights go up. Hoping to pay another visit to be able to experience that.

Using the Zomato Gold membership, I was able to get a 1+1 on food. The total meal for 7 cost us around 2.5K, which is more than reasonable.

P.S.: They have just one washroom, which is a common one, and no mirror. Just FYI.
