India Bistro

India Bistro's this branch sits comfortably next to Glocal Junction, in the Tanishq building. We wanted to go out for a team lunch last Friday, with limited amount of time available. This happens to be close by, and so we called up to book a table. Despite trying to make a reservation just half an hour prior to visit, they readily complied. We were given the table that is beyond the makeshift partition, which was good, as we had an entire space to us 14 people. The decor is dim, but lit enough to not be dark. The ambience falls in the better ones' category. We had opted for buffet, and the starters were brought directly on to the table. Though the vegetarian starters were limited, each of them tasted quite good! There was Veg Sheekh Kebab, Paneer Tikka, Aloo Chaska and Hara Bhara Kebab. This was one of the rarest occasion that I liked the Hara Bhara Kebab. There was hint of cheese in them as well. Aloo Chaska was quite great, too, and we had repeatedly ordered two rounds of t...

Ohri's Rubaiyat

I had heard a lot, and I mean A LOT, about this place's food. It was a friend's farewell dinner, so, this was chosen as the dine in place for the 7 of us. If you're aware of Cyber Pearl, locating the restaurant would not be a problem. Four wheelers are offered a valet parking, while two wheelers are asked to park outside the premises (where the board reads "Parking at Owner's Risk). When you enter the place, the magnificence of the decor blows you away. Done in dim lights and lighter shades, it gives you all the right feels of a fine dine. As we were a comparatively large group, we took seating in the Private Dining Area kind of place, that was separated from the regular seating by a curtain. And I warn thee, never to take this table, ever. The service gets pathetically slow for this one. Though the partition was only half drawn, we had major troubles getting the attention of the servers. Despite asking in the first go, to have someone stationed close by for o...

Indian Foodies Hub

Disclaimer: The review is based on a By-Invite event. Last Sunday noon, commuting in the scorching heat, a bunch of us made this place our designated lunch. Located on Road Number 12, Banjara Hills, the place is easy to spot. It is nestled on of the top floors of the Kimtee Square building. To our dismay, that afternoon, the lift wasn't working. Huffing and puffing our way upto the fourth floor, we finally reached the restaurant.  It has a pretty nice outdoor seating setup, that has quite a view to offer. But owing to the blaring su, we took a place inside. (I know, too many heat references, but can you blame me?) The place interior is done in sober colors, somewhere you'd like to end up having a meal with your family. The AC wasn't much effective intially, but was pumped up later on.  Here's the breakdown of the food that we tried- 1. Veg Tandoori Platter: This one had an array of the Indian variety of starters.  ~a. Bharwan Khumb: The best of the lot! Must try.  ~...

Tiki Shack - Gachibowli

Tiki Shack did the right thing by opening an outlet in Gachibowli, where all the offices are located. I got the chance to visit them, escaping office on Friday for a lunch. The four of us reached Tiki Shack at around 12:30. We had called to make a reservation but in hindsight, that was unnecessary. The place was almost empty and seating was not an issue at all. The place is done quite beautifully with shack like tents and other little things that give you a complete beach like feel. We sat in one such shack. As per the seating arrangement we were supposed to remove our footwear outside probably, but I suggest not to do so. The stones are not so smooth as you would think and tend to get your feet dry, dusty and sandy, so much so that you feel that they are crackin up. They've have a two level seating, both having outdoor seating as well indoor. So, in all you have four areas to choose from. The upper section was closed off due to it being daytime I presume, and the outer sectio...

Repete Brewery & Kitchen

Disclaimer: The review is based on a By-Invite event. Turning weekday into weekend, last Wednesday, our group of foodies rushed from office to reach this place for dinner. The place is located bang opposite to Naturals, in the same building as Revolt. They have valet parking readily available, so you need not worry about the vehicle. Nestled at the top most floor, they have an option of open area and indoor seating. The outdoors is quite well done, without being overtly or dimly lit. Inside, you have the bar counters, PDRs, long tables and the regular seating, with a small space dedicated to the music station. The live music that evening was simply amazing! There's also a projector screen, to help you catch the game with your drink. Coming to the tasting, the menu isn't too extensive, but more than good enough for a bar. Here's all that I tried: ~Hara Bhara Kebab: Nothing wrong there, and the bit of cheese inside came as a happy surprise ~Crispy Lotus Stem: Pieces of lotu...

Dirty Burgers

Indira Nagar is slowly becoming the Road Number 36, Jubilee Hills of Gachibowli. Small or big, a lot of eateries line up the road. One such tiny one is Dirty Burgers. Located near Karachi Bakery, the place shares a common wall with Thickshake Factory. Bonus: You can place, and receive, your Thickshake Factory order, while sitting in Dirty Burgers. My visit was on a Tuesday, right after office. Dropping by at around 7.30 p.m., the two of us were early for dinner, but hungry enough. The place, as I said, isn't that big. Wooden benches and tables serve the seating purpose. If you're someone who's into English shows, you'll find a lot of posters on the wall to stare at. The tables are also stocked with board games to help pass the time. The lighting is perfect for the ambience Coming to our order, we went with Screwed Over Cottage (veg) and Fat Boy (non-veg) burgers, and Peri Peri fries. For the drinks, we ordered them from Thickshake, and paid up for them as and when the...

Humming Bird Cafe

TL;DR: Go here for lazily passing the time and/or pictures, but not for the food. I fail to understand the good reviews the place is getting. Personally, I found them to be misleading. A friend had warned me about the kind of average food the place serves, but I still decided to give it a try. We reached the place around 7.30 in the evening. Being a Sunday, there was quite some crowd, which was expected. The place has indoor, covered seating, and an outdoor seating. Initially, due to lack of tables inside, the two of us were seated outside. The table was rickety beyond tolerance, and we asked the server to level it. We placed an order for an Oreo Shake, jalapeño poppers and garlic bread. The poppers came in first, and finally the server managed to level our table after the food was on it. This was the only bit of good food that we had. Good does of cheese and jalapeño bits, served with a side of chilly mayonnaise. By this time, a table inside had been vacated, and we moved to that. T...

Ciclo Cafe

A long timed bookmark, it was ticked off on the holiday of May Day. Bearing the heat the two of us, caught up at lunch at around 12:30 p.m. The place is easy to spot as it is located quite visibly on Road Number 36. There is ample parking space available in the property. We did not have a prior booking, but that wasn't an issue, considering we were early for lunch. The stewardess showed us the way in to our table. The ground floor houses a plethora of cycles, and the related gear. The seating is on the first floor, divided mainly into two areas: one which is around the bar and the other, outside it, done in hues of teal and pink. You're sure to like the overall look of the place. We chose to be seated at the interior end, right next to the sofas. Settling in, we placed an order for Choco Berry shake and a cocktail, Cosmopolitan. The cocktail was visually interesting, and as for the shake, it turned out to be non-tangy, despite having the berries. For the starters, we ordered ...
