Taste of Punjab - Sarath City Capital Mall

Strolling in the newly opened Sarath City Capital Mall, Kothaguda, is bound to make you hungry - there is so much walking involved!  But the eatery options are limited, as of yet. One such was a stall named Taste of Punjab. Run by a middle-aged Sikh couple, they serve some of the basic Punjabi delicacies.  The menu is limited and primarily has Paranthas, Paav Bhaji, Chhole Kulche/Bhature/Chawal and Lassi to offer. We tried the Methi Paneer Parantha and Chhole Bhature, priced at 90 bucks each. The parantha was freshly rolled, and fried in butter, right in front of us! It is served with home-mde green chutney, pickles and curd. The chhole were not unnecessarily spicy or oily, and were great with the fluffy Bhature.  Unsure as to till when they are gonna be put up, but look out for them on the ground floor food counters. The food has some homely feel, with flavours that leave a satiating feeling.  P.S.: They serve 3 pavs in Pav Bhaji, as I gathered from other p...

Melting Moments- Banjara Hills

Melting Moments is a small, cozy dessert parlor, situated just a bit of the main Road No. 2, Banjara Hills. Located adjacent to Vana Bhojanam, it is not tough to spot the place.  They have a few tables put up indoors and two-three, outdoors, under the shade of the tree. Parking is no issue, with ample parking space right in front of the joint. Because we were around 10 people, it was easier for us to be accommodated inside.  The main selling point of the place is the variety of sundaes they offer, which are classified into 3 basic categories:  Chocolate, Dry Fruits and Fresh Fruits, besides a few specials. Jotting down the ones we tried.  I. Chocolate Sundaes ~1. Brazilian Love Song - This one had a scoop each of coffee and chocolate ice-creams,topped with whipped cream, dry fruit bits and chocolate sauce. The mix of the two flavours is undeniably a good combination.  ~2. Chocolate Nirvana - Quite true to its name, this sinful dessert is a must try! Th...

Chili's - Connaight Place

Chili's is a new found favourite for me, and I like to try it out as and when I can. I realize I'm quite late in joining the tribe, considering how long it has been present in the food scene. Nevertheless, I am making it up now for missed opportunities. So, while roaming around CP, deciding on the place to eat, the two of us ended up here on a Saturday afternoon. The setup is pretty similar to their other branches, with ample seating that is spread across 2 floors. Diving into the starters, we decided to go for a Triple Dipper. Between the two of us, one was a vegetarian and the other one, not. Upon checking with the server, we ordered a dipper with two veg and one non-veg appetizers. We went with Southwestern Rolls, Texas Cheese Poppers, and Signature Wings. As usual, loved both the vegetarian ones, though, for some reason, found the poppers to be a bit sour. Next, we ordered for a berry Iced Tea, and Spicy Smoked Veg Pasta, for the mains. The drink was refreshing and was swe...

Peiskos - Secunderabad

It is probably a line I should conclude with, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it first — Peiskos was an experience that is going to be etched as one of the best memories. Travelling for a good one hour, towards the other end of the city, brought us to this unsuspectingly located restaurant. And from what I could make out, it is one of its kind in the area. Placed on one of the floors of a commercial building, right on the main road, the place offers ample parking, though a bit skewed. The board could be a tad hidden behind the trees, but it is difficult to miss the golden-yellow sign that announces the name. When you step into the restaurant, you're taken aback by how beautifully it is done. Nothing is too flashy, and every bit reeks of elegance and thought put into design. Probably, looks equally pretty at night, but if I had to pick, I would definitely choose a time during the day, with dusk about to set in, to be comforted by the place. An entire wall of the restaurant ...
