Last Sunday noon, commuting in the scorching heat, a bunch of us made this place our designated lunch. Located on Road Number 12, Banjara Hills, the place is easy to spot. It is nestled on of the top floors of the Kimtee Square building. To our dismay, that afternoon, the lift wasn't working. Huffing and puffing our way upto the fourth floor, we finally reached the restaurant.
It has a pretty nice outdoor seating setup, that has quite a view to offer. But owing to the blaring su, we took a place inside. (I know, too many heat references, but can you blame me?)
The place interior is done in sober colors, somewhere you'd like to end up having a meal with your family. The AC wasn't much effective intially, but was pumped up later on.
Here's the breakdown of the food that we tried-
1. Veg Tandoori Platter: This one had an array of the Indian variety of starters.
~a. Bharwan Khumb: The best of the lot! Must try.
~b. Pudina Paneer Tikka: Smoothly done, with soft chunks of paneer.
~c. Aloo Nazakat: Another good one, this was basically shells of potatoes, with fillings
~d. Hara Bhara Kebab: Not a fan, didn't find this one to be anything extra
~e. Malai Broccoli: Loved this one! Recommended.
2. Veg Chinese Platter: Another ensemble of starters, this one had the following:
~a. Veg Manchurian: Bite sized balls, that were soft.
~b. Crispy Veg: Passable
~c. Crispy Honey Chilly Potato: This one tasted good, but the potato sticks were a bit too hard for my liking
~d. Burmese Roll: I can't stress how much I loved these. The presentation is pretty as a picture. They are basically deep fried parcels of cheese and corn. Another recommended.
3. Veg Minestrone Soup: Not a soup person/expert, but the taste of this one was decent.
4. Firangi Sabzi: IFH's take on the classic mixed vegetable curry will not leave you disappointed. Bonus- loads of Paneer pieces!
5. Tomato Dal: Not that great, or maybe I do not have a taste developed for it.
6. Breads: Tried the Naan and Tandoori Roti. Cooked well, without being to flaky or hard.
7. Veg Biryani: Tasted more than a pulao, could be tried.
8. Brownie with Ice-cream: Fudge like brownie, topped with the basic vanilla ice-cream. Likeable.
What didn't match upto the mark were the mocktails. The food here sets good standards for an overall happy experience, but the drinks let you down. The one that is worth trying is Paan Colada, if you like the gulkand flavour. Pina Colada and Virign Mojito do their part also well.
Fairly a new entrant, they have a lot of brownie points to them. Special mention to the fact that they pay equal attention to their vegetarian section, as they do their non-vegetarian one. Rarely does it happen that you find non-vegetarians reaching out for second helpings of vegetarian starters! :D
