Melting Moments is a small, cozy dessert parlor, situated just a bit of the main Road No. 2, Banjara Hills. Located adjacent to Vana Bhojanam, it is not tough to spot the place.
They have a few tables put up indoors and two-three, outdoors, under the shade of the tree. Parking is no issue, with ample parking space right in front of the joint. Because we were around 10 people, it was easier for us to be accommodated inside.
The main selling point of the place is the variety of sundaes they offer, which are classified into 3 basic categories: Chocolate, Dry Fruits and Fresh Fruits, besides a few specials. Jotting down the ones we tried.
I. Chocolate Sundaes
~1. Brazilian Love Song - This one had a scoop each of coffee and chocolate ice-creams,topped with whipped cream, dry fruit bits and chocolate sauce. The mix of the two flavours is undeniably a good combination.
~2. Chocolate Nirvana - Quite true to its name, this sinful dessert is a must try! The brownie that was served was so soft, and because it was warmed to the correct temperature, a perfect match to the ice-cream and hot chocolate it was served with. The nuts, sprinkles and choco-chips were like the icing on the cake.
II. Dry Fruit Sundaes
~1. Desert Dream - There were 3 scoops of ice-creams in this: vanilla, pista and date & almond. I did not relish the pista one, but totally loved the date & almond.
~2. Rage of Angels - Fig fan? Go for this without a thought! Not only is the ice-cream good, the raw fig that accompanies it, is also delectably good.
~3. Butternut Crunch - The go-to no-brainer option for those who love a good butterscotch experience.
III. Fresh Fruit Sundaes
~1. Chikoo Temptation - Fruit flavoured ice-cream, with slices of actual fruit; the fix for your chikoo cravings.
~2. Summer Romance - This one is their take on the classic Banana Split. It is served with 3 scoops of ice-creams, fresh fruits, chocolate sauce, and, of course, a split banana.
~3. Strawberry Strip - I am not typically a berries fan, but really enjoyed this one. For once, I couldn't get enough of the black currant ice-cream, that was a part of the sundae.
~4. Vesuvious Havoc - Not exactly delectable, but it could be appealing to the palates of those who enjoy a tang in their desserts.
IV. Specials
~1. Tiramisu - A bit too soggy and water for my liking, but this could be a one-off instance, because the flavours were otherwise not bad at all.
~2. Skillet Cookie - The one thing that you must, for sure order, HANDS DOWN! A mini pizza-sized cookie, that is prepared and served in a skillet, topped with ice-cream scoops and caramel sauce — this dessert is heaven in every bite. MUST TRY!
The outlet makes their own ice-cream and you can taste that distinctly in some of the scoops. The prices vary according to the sundae's composition, but are very justifiable. Two of my favourie surely would be Chocolate Nirvana and Skillet Cookie. Ditch the usual ice-cream joints in the area, and give this place a go next time you are around.
P.S.: The Skillet Cookie takes time to be prepared, roughly upto half an hour. Be ready for the wait, that is worth it! .
~By invite.
